Bipe Inc., has been in business for over 30 years and expanded from a small T Hangar at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE) in the 70's and 80's to a hangar complex at Lantana (Palm Beach County Airpark) LNA - in 2002. Bipe Inc. is soon to have a presence also in Andrews, North Carolina at the Murphy-Andrews airport (RHP) where they are building a large, new facility. The facility in Lantana now handles three restorations a year plus a paint and cover shop, executive offices, a space leasing company, delivery of EAA workshops every three months and a full blown mechanic apprentice program.
Bipe Inc., specialty is the restoration - top to bottom - of Stearmans and other vintage biplanes such as Waco, Great Lakes, and Cubs to their orginal historically accurate configurations and smooth, hands off flying qualities that make an owner proud. Many of Jerry Stadtmiller's restorations have gone on to become great show planes and one of these planes, owned by Jerry himself, won the attention of artist Sam Lyons, who painted the airplane ("Airshow") which has ended up on coffee mugs, credit cards, mouse pads, puzzles, T-Shirts, coasters, and, of course, hand signed limited edition paintings on collectors' walls.
Jerry Stadtmiller has performed restoration work for the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington. D.C. His best know project is the Grumman Goose that now sits under the wing of the Concorde in the Udvar Hazy Center near Dulles Airport. In 1995 Jerry was given the prestigious CHARLES TAYLOR AWARD.
